Ode to Forest

I did not expect to post like this today. I was all ready to let Tesla tell you events of the week. Tell you about the boring events of her days which are mostly just sleeping here or there, crushing a bug or two, or stealing silverware out of the sink. I could tell you endless boring details of our lives- but today must be someone else's day.

Today about the loss of Forest. Poor Forest snuck out of the house the other night, and was found in the morning no longer with us. She was killed by a car.

I'm very sad to hear that the people who did this did not try to find out who's pet family was. What has happened to the world that you don't have the decency to comfort the people you just did this to? Its like taking a family member- yes they are not animals, they are our children. Our babies. Forever, no matter how time ages them... they will always be our babies.

It always saddens me when i know one has lost one of their precious babies. I have never lost my own- but i've been there when people have lost theirs... and through my job, i have come to love a lot of them as my own little babies. And sometimes... its just as terrible. I have cried many, many times over the loss of my friends.

So honest and loyal. So full of love. So innocent. It destroys me that they are able to feel pain. What did they do to deserve what they go through? Nothing. Just love. That's all they do.

I'm deeply sad tonight- for the loss of a friend. One good thing- is i know that little forest is there across the rainbow bridge. Waiting for her parents to join her. She's probably up there having the time of her life. Endless hunting. Friends to play with. But always with her eyes on the end of the rainbow.

When we're little, we're taught that the rainbow has a pot of gold at the end. Filled to the brim with treasure. Well... for us... maybe our treasure is different. Maybe our babies are the treasure waiting for us at the end of the bridge? And our babies wait there, and keep their eyes on the bridge and just wait, for we are their treasures as well. We take care of each other.

So i know in my heart, every time someone loses a baby, even though its incredibly hard and painful, they are still our babies. For all of eternity. Once they are ours, they are always ours. Even though life will become harder without them, and no animal could EVER replace another... we will still be reunited in the end. So, we do have something to rejoice in.... the knowledge that they are still there... forever, waiting, and loving us.

Now my friends, please take the time out of your day, to say a few kind words to the parents of forest.

Yes, it was very sad about Forest. And when we read about the loss of a furry blogger, it's like losing a friend.

What a wonderful post for Forest!!! That was such sad news. It brings back memories of our Moxie who died suddenly just over a year ago. It will take a long time for her family to get over this loss. I hate when we loose friends.
